Chicken and rice dog food plus added fiber

Sick dogs need extra help.

When my dog is taking medication for an illness or allergy, it can sometimes cause stomach problems as well as loose stools.

This recipe should do the trick but ask your vet first before using it.

I got my vet's approval before I tried this recipe on my dogs and it worked.

Use the Chicken and rice recipe and add fiber to the mix.

Psyllium, a bulk-forming laxative, is used to treat loose stools.

It  absorbs liquid in the intestines, swells, and forms a bulky stool, which is easy to pass.

This medication is sometimes prescribed for other  uses; ask your Vet for more information.

Psyllium comes as a powder, granules, or capsules.

I bought a big container from Trader Joe's here in California.

It was around $6.00.  If I had bought Metamucil, it would have cost me $15.00.

Mix the Psyllium into the dog food.

You don't want any granules that are dry.

The dog may ingest the Psyllium and choke on the dry granules as they go down the throat.
